This week, September 21-27, 2009, is Recycle Glass Week. Believe it: the Glass Packaging Institute, made up of glass manufacturers of the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, has come up with a snazzy way to save their dollars while raising awareness about the environmental benefits of recycling glass. This explains for the various reported sightings of humans dressed as giant bottles walking the streets.
Don't know the benefits of recycling glass? Head to cities like Jacksonville (FL), Warner Robins (GA), and New York (NY), because there, it will be all about spreading the word about recycling glass to help preserve the Earth's resources. There are events taking place in these cities and others, which may range from a free concert series to a game of spot the Little Bottle.
LAgb has to admit it is a good spin on the topic. A little cheesy, but good. And the video is too cute to pinch. View on the top right.
Say what? You don't need to recycle glass but have other items in mind? Check out Earth 911 to see where you can recycle your old goods. Numerous local businesses may be able to help you get rid of your household items, including batteries, light bulbs, sporting goods, paint, computers, and even chemistry sets.
